• Seina was born in Kyoto, Japan, to Nigerian and Ghanaian parents who had moved there for work. Her father, Adewale Okafor, was an aerospace engineer fascinated by the stars, while her mother, Afia Mensah, was an art historian with a passion for mythology.
• Seina’s parents embraced both their cultural roots and the country they lived in, ensuring she grew up bilingual in Japanese and English, with some Yoruba and Twi influences.
• As a child, Seina was enchanted by the night sky. Her father often took her to the Kyoto Astronomical Observatory, where she spent hours staring at the constellations. Her mother would weave legends from African and Japanese folklore, linking the stars to gods, warriors, and spirits. These stories sparked a deep connection between Seina and the celestial world.
• Around the age of 11, she discovered a new initiative called Project Z, developed by The Vanguard. It was a five-year program designed to train children between the ages of 10 and 13 to become elite soldiers.
• At this time, Seina had started to notice she could manifest constellations by tracing them in the air, but she struggled to make them solid or useful.
• She saw The Vanguard’s training program as more than just a way to become stronger—it was an opportunity to experiment, learn, and uncover deeper truths about mana itself.
• Two weeks later, the entrance exams for Project Z began, and only ten children were selected. With her parents’ support, Seina ranked 5th in the exam.
• During the program’s first year, she grew close to Akemi Adriatic, a prodigy with incredible mana control. Akemi helped Seina understand her constellation-based abilities and guided her in developing them further.
• By the second year of the project, trainees were paired up, and Seina formed a close bond with Sasaki, her assigned partner.
• Alongside Sasaki, Seina trained with different weapons, as both had the ability to manifest unique armaments.

• Due to Project Z’s strict regulations, the trainees were forced to participate in the war between Japan and Russia, regardless of their own or their families’ objections.
• During the war, Seina fought alongside Sasaki in the long-range division, supporting their forces from a distance.
• Since she was stationed near the information tower, she was the first to receive the devastating news of her comrades’ deaths.
• After hearing about Katsuki’s death, knowing how close Sasaki and he were, she advised Sasaki to check on Akemi, who was stationed in the medical division at the time.
